We are proud to announce a special trip to New York by Amtrak just in time for the Christmas season.

Dates - November 29 to December 1 - Two days, three nights, all expense included.

Christmas in New York City is one of the best times to visit.  We'll be taking Amtrak from Fredericksburg to downtown New York to start off a fun filled, three day trip in the City for touring, site-seeing and, of course, shopping!

What is included:

Transportation from Fredericksburg to NYC and Back by Amtrak

Hotel Accommodations in the heart of the Wall Street / Financial District

All Meals, including breakfast at the hotel

Subway tickets for 8 rides per person

Site Seeing: 

  • Times Square

  • Central Park

  • Chinatown and Little Italy

  • Ground Zero, the Financial District and Battery Park

  • Rockefeller Center and Fifth Ave. 

  • Christmas street bazaars for specialty shopping

Special Destinations:

  • Harbor Cruise to see the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge and the harbor. (note, does not stop at Liberty Island)

  • Empire State Building

The tour will be lead by a licensed professional New York guide who will be with the group for the entire trip.

We arrive in style at Penn Station in the heart of the city.  No time consuming security lines at the airport, no long commute into town.  The whole group will sit together in one reserved section.

Train Information:
Depart Fredericksburg at 7:00 AM on Tuesday, November 29 on train #86.  Arrive at Penn Station, NY at 12:04 PM.

Depart NYC at Thursday, December 1 at 3:05 PM on train #85.  Arrive back at Fredericksburg at 8:10 PM.

** the only thing not included in the price is the cab ride from Penn Station to the hotel. 

The Hotel: The Holiday Inn - Wall Street. at 51 Nassau Street, NYC.  This is a great neighborhood.  It is a mix of everything New York, the new and the old, skyscrapers and colonial buildings, the upscale and the classic.  We will be right next to Wall Street and close to South Street Seaport, City Hall and Ground Zero.  It's a short walk to Battery Park.  There's good dining at historic Stone Street and in the blocks around South Street Seaport, including two of New York's oldest bars, the Bridge Cafe and the Ear Inn.  Breakfast, which is included, will be in the restaurant adjoining the hotel.  Breakfast will be off of a menu, not a buffet.  Relax and let the waitress serve you, and order what you want.

We will be close to four subways lines, the Lexington Ave., Broadway, 8th Ave., and  Red Lines.  Using the great NYC subway, we're only six stops from Times Square, four stops to Grand Central and only three stops to some great bargain shopping and good eating in historic Brooklyn.

About Your Guide: You will be lead on your New York trip by Tour Guide Mark, who was born  in Central New York, and lives in the Washington, DC area.  Mark first visited New York in 1965 as a child to see the World's Fair.  He went to college on Long Island in the late 1970's and can testify as to how much the City has improved since then.  Mark is a full time tour guide, licensed in New York and Washington, DC.  He has an intimate knowledge of the city.  He loves working with kids and specializes in school trips and in specialized walking tours.  Mark also appears in the Macy's Thanksgiving parade as a ballon handler, as can be seen here.

About Best Tours - We're a company that offers group tours, especially school and family tours to New York, Washington, DC, Costa Rica and Panama.  We have a Costa Rica trip coming up later in the winter, at the end of January and beginning of February.

Price Information:
(Note that "Child" means someone 16 years old and below.  All the rooms except for the One Adult option are Double rooms with two large king sized beds in them.  No couch.  The Single rooms (very limited in number) have one large king sized bed.  NYC fire codes do not allow cots in the rooms. )

Payment Terms:  A deposit of $450 per room is due by September 5.  This is to reserve your space.  Final payment will be due in October.  This is all refundable till a few weeks before the trip.  Call me for more details about this.
